Euro Tour – Vlog 14

So I woke up to an empty apartment today, headed down to the local bistro for a cup of coffee. When I got my “cup of coffee” I thought they were joking… I thought they were asking me to take a piss test it was so small. I have yet to pass a day in Paris with no surprises. Is it just me or is this place “out there”? You have to pay to use public washrooms… I suppose that’s their attempt to discourage people from breaking the seal with alcohol in public… but there hasn’t been a day where I haven’t seen some drunk pissing on the subway platform, the street or garbage can. You’d think they’d make the washrooms free so as not to stink up the city with piss

I wrote a new ukelele song which I’ll try to vlog for you tomorrow. I’ve got a lot of work to catch up on for my clients back in Canada. For those of you who do not know, i’m a freelance web consultant which is how I support myself while travelling abroad. It’s in the works until I get back home to my studio where I can produce it properly but it’s still worthy of public performance as is right now.

I had a great time at tonight’s open mic at “The Highlander” (where the french are made to feel like they are in England). It was a student body with the largest turn out I’ve seen all week. Almost 2 douzen musicians came out to play, very few of them played originals… they were all playing covers of American bands like The Offspring and such. I was well embraced and made plenty of contacts. This is my third performance in France and I feel that I’ve now saturated the city enough that I’ll have fans to return to. For now I hear the birds chirping which is my cue to hit the hay. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s vlog of the new ukelele song ;)

was it an espresso based coffee? in which case you would expect it to be small.

you could say north america is out there with our oversized everyhting.

Nope, just a regular coffee. I suppose it’s half full to leave room for milk, sugar and to avoid spilling. I’d have to agree though, everything in North America is “biggie sized” the largest cup in McDonald’s here in Europe is even smaller than the smallest available in North America. Another thing I’ve noticed, is that there are very very few restaurants that are open later than midnight… versus the many fast food restaurants that are open 24/7 in North America.
