It’s like my father always said “if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself”. Tonight I decided to bring my laptop to incorporate the beats I use in my live set. However I chose to make due without my foot controller and ask the sound guy to cue the beats on my command… big mistake! Not once was he on point, he was either talking to someone or too drunk to count.
From here on out, it’s all or nothing (the full rig or unplugged). Nonetheless, despite all the technical difficulties, I still managed to sell 6 CDs and snap a memorable photo of some new fans (the 3 girls below). It was a hectic day, I spent hours wondering around trying to find CD sleeves for my Euro disc and ended up paying 4 times what I’m used to paying in Toronto. PARIS IS EXPENSIVE! A sandwhich, ice tea and muffin costs 10 euros in “Les Champs Elysees” (that’s about $20 CAD). The saga continues the list of things I wish I bought back home gets longer
At the end of the night when I left the bar on a high note, I was worried I missed the last subway. Foretunately I didn’t, but when I finally got off the subway, the bus stopped running… so I had to walk back to the apartment for a solid hour with all my gear. I think I am now medically considered “flat footed”
I guess that’s just another knotch on the belt of ailments to tack on to my tour in France… first a blown ear drum, then an allergic reaction to penicillin and now aching feet with no arch supports. C’est la vie, you do what you must and carry on. On the brighter side of things, I managed to get a few decent photos while wondering the city today.
